MCSWMD Wins Awards While Making A Difference
At the 2005 annual meeting of the Association of Solid Waste Management Districts in Indianapolis, two Monroe County Solid Waste Management District officials accepted awards on behalf of state recycling and household hazardous waste organizations.

The Director of Recycling and Reuse accepted a Governor's Award on behalf of the Indiana Recycling Coalition,bottle_recycle an organization that supports source reduction, reuse, composting and recycling activities of Indiana, of which she is President. Also, Scott Morgan, Hazardous Materials Facility Director, along with Patricia Bunner Colbert and Pat Gratzek, accepted the Association of Indiana Solid Waste Management District's 2005 Environmental Stewardship Award for the Non-Profit Organization of the Year on behalf of the Indiana Hazardous Materials Task Force, Inc., of which he is President. The Task Force protects Indiana's Environment and Human Health through environmentally and economically sound management of hazardous wastes. Morgan was also instrumental in the recent local annual 2005 Medical Round-up, working with Area 10 Agency on Aging and several other agencies.
The Monroe County Solid Waste Management District works frequently with other State and Federal agencies to make a difference, both locally and otherwise, to ensure that recyclables and trash are handled in an environmentally safe and socially and economically responsible manner.
