These are objects that penetrate the body such as needles, scapels, lancets, syringes, broken capillary tubes and glass, knives, exposed dental wires, drills, and burs. Sharps must be dropped off in a puncture-resistant, leak-proof container with the lids taped shut. Examples are coffee cans or heavy plastic containers such as laundry detergent bottles. Needles should NOT be brought in thin plastic containers such as milk jugs or 2-liter bottles. Never overfill or force items into their container.
